How hard is it to remove/hide a fireplace no longer wanted.?

Q. We are turning this room into a childs bedroom.

A. The easiest way I can think of would be to attach studs to the existing walls around the fireplace. Then you can build a box that will fit over the fireplace and attach it to the studs that you already put up. This way if you decide at some point in the future that you DO want a fireplace in that room it will be fairly simple to take down the "false" wall or box. A. The size of the valance should be printed on the package. Measure the window and add a couple of inches on each side to find out the minimum size you need. You should only have to buy one per window, unless the windows are inordinately large.
Windows vary a lot in size, so there are several "standard" sizes. If in doubt, buy the larger one and you can bunch it up on the drapery rod.
