Can anyone answer a question about the installation of new carpeting?

Q. Just had new carpeting put in and began to notice when walked on you can see the shoe tracks. Is this a characteristic of "cheap" carpeting or is it just a characteristic of new carpeting and something that will go away over time?

A. Just new carpet. When it gets worn they won't show. Enjoy it while it lasts.

What do you think of black walls and grey carpeting?
Q. I have next week off for vacation time and I am considering having my condo painted and new carpeting installed. I want the ceiling and carpeting grey and the walls black. I think that it will go good with the lava lamps and my furniture.

A. I like Black I have black carpet in my daughters room with black and cream bedding. Your choice seems ok.

Can you install carpeting right on top of tile?
Q. Can you install carpeting right on top of tile or does the tile have to be removed first?

A. You can put most anything removable over a tile floor - but for carpet you need to use underlay. You might damage the tiles using carpet tacking bars, so ask a professional carpet layer before trying to install the bars on tile. It might be possible to glue the bars instead of using screws. But whatever you decide, do not remove the tiles.
