Q. I recently bought patio furniture with outdoor safe cushions. But the cushions are already being pecked to pieces by the birds in my backyard! They have made several holes in the new cushions and it's clear that it's the stuffing they are after. Does anyone know how I can keep this from happening?
A. They aren't eating it, they are using it to build their nests. The only thing you can do is put them away until the nesting season is over. Once they have found that good stuff for their nests, they won't leave it alone!
What do you use to clean the plastic webbing on outdoor patio furniture?
Q. The plastic strapping/webbing on my outdoor patio furniture has become "grungy" over the past year. I would like to know what is the best method to clean the furniture webbing/strapping?
A. I use Mean Green, and scrub, outside, with a toilet brush.
What can I use to weatherproof fabric for my patio furniture?
Q. I found the perfect fabric for my patio furniture but i don't know how to make it weather and water proof. Any suggestions?
A. First of all, you may want to verify that the fabric will actually hold up for being outdoors. Some fabrics will fade quickly in the sun and some fabrics will become moldy so these are definitely two things to consider. The fabric types I would consider are Sunbrella, Outdura, Vinyl, and Spun Polyester. These have been created to withstand the harsh outdoors and are fade resistant. Then, I would use a water repellent spray, such as Scotch Guard to ensure the water-proofing of that fabric.
Good Luck!
