What is the best way you have scored cheap furniture?

Q. I am moving into my new condo in less than two weeks and have no living room and dining room furniture. What do you believe is the best/cheapest/easiest way to obtain a couch or futon/table? I want to hear other peoples experience in this.

A. Rent a truck and drive to a furniture store. Tell customers that you are a free delivery service and then just take their stuff when they put it in your truck. (he-he, just kidding)

HOw do you remove mold from wood furniture?
Q. Dining room Furniture has been in storage for 5 years and when delivered, it has mold on the wood.

A. Try Murphys Oil Soap.It is good for all types of wood and wont hurt the wood. When you are finished cleaning, let dry thoroughly and Use Scotts Liquid Gold. This stuff will bring out the best in any wood. Its been around a long time because it works, plain and simple...Good Luck

Should the stain color in your hardwood floor match the stain color in furniture?
Q. I have light oak dining room furniture and will soon be putting in hardwood flooring. Does the color in each, have to match or should they contrast with one another?

A. Your floor choice should not depend on your furniture color as it will be there for a very long time and your furniture may be replaced in the future. So, why restrict yourself?
A medium oak will be better for resale and also much easier to maintain. Darker floors show the dust more. Your best to place an area rug down to break it up. If you think about it, would you not move into a home based on your furniture? Choose something that goes with the style of your home. I have used walnut floors in a very formal area with mahogany furniture but...had large Persian rugs to set the furniture on. For resale it wasn't the best choice as people have different styles of furniture. Look at the white and red oak.
